If decay is detected, it needs to be removed as soon as possible to stop the spread. Dental fillings are one of the most common restorations performed throughout the dental industry. After our doctors remove the decay, we use a composite tooth-colored material to seamlessly fill the area. Once the resin sets, you’ll regain full functionality of your teeth, resuming normal chewing and speaking. The entire process is quick and easy, and can stop the harmful effects of decay.

If you have experienced a moderate amount of decay, a traditional composite filling may not be appropriate for you. In these situations, we may recommend porcelain inlay or onlay restorations. Inlays cover the interior biting surface of the tooth, up to the cusps, while onlays include the cusps and exterior surface area of the tooth. Though they are similar in function to a traditional filling, porcelain inlays and onlays don’t compromise the structural integrity of the tooth. In fact, they actually strengthen the tooth once the decayed area is removed, and often don’t require additional support from a dental crown.

Dental crowns protect a tooth and restore functionality after severe injury or disease has compromised it. Crowns are “caps” that fit over the entire area of the tooth above the gum line. Generally, crowns support teeth that have received endodontic therapy or has had a large area of decay that can’t be repaired with a traditional composite filling. Crowns generally take two visits to complete, but in some cases, we may offer same-day dental crowns.

Crowns are also used as part of a dental bridge, which is a fixed replacement option for missing teeth. A natural prosthetic is created to replace the missing tooth or series of teeth, and is anchored in place by a crown on each side, bonded to the healthy teeth. Depending on the placement of either your bridge or crown, we use either metal-free or porcelain-fused-to-metal materials for all our crowns and bridges.

When you’re missing teeth, your confidence can falter. Not only that, but it’s harder to perform routine activities like talking, biting, and chewing. Partials and dentures are replacement options which rely on custom designed prosthetics to supplement your smile. If you have some healthy teeth remaining, you may be a candidate for partials, which are removable, unlike a dental bridge. Often held in place by metal clasps, partials stop healthy teeth from shifting to compensate for a gap left behind by missing teeth.

Dentures are for the patient who has lost an entire arch, either upper, lower, or both. We’ll create a specific set of natural looking prosthetics to restore your smile, and we’ll ensure a perfect, comfortable fit! You’ll be able to speak and smile with confidence once again.

Dental implants are the closest replacement option for missing teeth that you can get to nature. We have a specialist come to our office to surgically place the dental implant, which is a titanium rod that acts as a “root”. After the implant heals, Dr. Adams will create a natural-looking crown to bond to the rod, creating a restoration that’s seamless and durable. Implants stop the jaw bone from atrophying and help promote your oral health.

If you have dentures or are missing teeth we have implant-retained options that can provide a more precise, customized fit. If you’ve been told you aren’t a candidate for implants, mini-implants may be an option. Mini-implants are great for areas where there may not be enough healthy bone for a traditional implant.

Our cone beam technology ensures accurate placement of the implant and shows areas where the bone is healthy enough to support a dental implant.

At Blackhawk Dental Care, it’s part of our mission to offer the best possible care while keeping our patients comfortable the entire time. Should you need oral surgery, rest assured you’ll be in the best possible hands. Dr. Adams and Dr. Feliciano-Turner partner with an in-house specialist to bring you the most advanced, least invasive options. Whether you require an extraction or another surgical procedure, we’ve got you covered.

Our CEREC technology allows us to create beautiful dental crowns in as little as one day. Using computer assisted design, we’re able to fabricate custom fit restorations specifically for you!
